My name is Bárbara and I am a native from Spain (therefore, yes, I do have a Spanish lisp!) I started tutoring in Spain, when I was around 16 years old, and that's when I realized I loved teaching! I have tutored Spanish and English classes to all variety of ages, from elementary school students to independent-adult learners. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in December '15, with a double MA in Spanish language and in Translation, and moved straight to Wilmington to begin my career. I currently work as a Spanish instructor at Coastal Carolina University, in Conway (SC); which means... yes, I commute to work! I have worked at the university level for over 5 years now, so I feel very confident about what I do and I know my techniques (if students are motivated and interested) are always successful. I also am a certified Spanish tutor and I love it as much as I love classroom teaching, although tutoring is way more personalized, which brings a closer relationship between student and instructor. Whether it is for academic reasons, or personal reasons, learning a new language has always been a challenging task for everyone, and as a native Spanish speaker living in the United States I understand that struggle! However also from my own experience I know that it is possible to learn a new language, it is possible to improve your Spanish language skills, and it is definitely possible to become bilingual. Let me share with you my passion for the Spanish language and culture and hopefully you will soon realize that it is also possible for you!

Hobbies
I am a very active girl, I enjoy going to the gym and doing group classes (yoga, zumba, cardio classes, etc.) and I also enjoy dancing (bachata is my favorite latin dance!) I love the beach and spending hours and hours there while reading a book and waiting for the sun to go down. Other activities I enjoy are hiking, camping but also staying in and relaxing at home! My husband and I try to travel to new places every year, in order to learn a little bit more about the world that we live in!
