Education
I have a BA degree in Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I graduated from a public high school in Greensboro, NC. Before I entered UNCW, I took a placement exam regarding my Spanish skills, and placed into advanced Spanish immediately after high school. The Spanish major at UNCW requires 36 classroom course credits, including speaking, reading, writing in Spanish.
Experience
I studied at a university in Madrid, Spain, for one summer, and took classes in Spanish literature and the Spanish economy, all in Spanish. I lived with a family who spoke only Spanish, and used only Spanish on a day-to-day basis. In addition to studying in Spain, I also spent time in three other Spanish speaking countries: Mexico, Costa Rica, and Argentina. I also volunteered at Latino Centrale in Wilmington, NC, as part of a service learning course. I translated legal documents for Spanish-speaking immigrants. I would like to be a Spanish tutor because I am proficient in written and oral Spanish, and because I can work well with students of all ages. I
